... around the world, to approve cosmetic fillers?
The existence of so many sounds a bit... scary!
How are they controlled and approved, usually, in countries other than the US? (where obviously the FDA regulates that). Specifically in Europe, from where most brands seem to come from... how does the European Community approve them? Do they run tests or are they way less strict than the FDA?

Honestly, I have no idea. I believe (but may be wrong) that the sovereignty of each country approves or disapproves each product. I have no idea if the EU does that or not. I only know how rigorous the U.S. FDA is.
