Hi Dr. Lam, do you do people's lips very often? If so, how much of a syringe do you use.

I ask because I have about 2/3 of a syringe of restylane left over and my PS recommended doing my lips rather then through my product away. I have been scared of getting duck lips or an obvious I had something done look.

I do lips almost every day. However, I truly prefer silicone because it is permanent and soft. However, I do Restylane and Juvederm in the lips. If you are seeking a doctor's qualifications for lip enhancement, here are the 3 things that I ask:
1. show me the money, i.e., show me your results.
2. explain to me how do you do the lips: how much in the upper and how much in the lower? do you understand lip design? are there cleft, tapers, ovals, and visual breaks so that when you augment the lip it has shape and proportion.
3. are you going to torture me with a topical anesthetic or give me a proper block where i feel ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN FROM BEGINNING TO END?
that is the standard i exercise.

Wow, there is a lot more involved in doing the lips then I thought. I know my PS doesn't do injections very often, he mainly does surgeries, but I went to him anyway because he has good bedside manner. I have emailed him and discussed my concerns with him. But getting a second opinion from you is a bonus as well. Thanks for sharing your insights on the lips.

Curious, does a little go a long way in the lips sordive like under the eye area because I don't have much restylane left.

yes, less is more in my opinion. i wish all my patients would believe me.

I am a little hesitant in using my leftover product in my lips. I was on youtube and I saw brow lifts being peformed. Do you ever inject restylane in the brow area to create more arch in the eye brows. I watched a woman getting it done and she looked good afterwards and more refreshed. I never thought the brows made much difference in making the face look fresh; what is your opinion on that?

i don't do a lot of them but i do them on occasion. the real reason is that i can get a much better result with restylane in the cheek and chin. i tend to prefer fat in that area. restylane in that area can be a little unsmooth. however, it's pretty easy to do. i tend to put it in then rub it into position to cut down on bruising.
