Transfered fat removal

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Transfered fat removal

Postby jazminfg » Wed Aug 20, 2008 2:03 am

Hi Dr. Lam,

I had fat transfered to my tear trough and cheeks. Unfortunately, the fat transfered to my cheeks was placed too high and it bulges out near my eyes. It makes my face look abnormal. A doctor injected 5fu and it did help disolve the fat a little but there is still significant unwanted fat left. Have you ever removed transfered fat and what procedure do you use? I'm 36yrs old.

Thank you!

fortunately so far, i have never had to do it. however, learning from my colleagues who have experienced this problem, i know that you should make an incision along the tear trough to remove it. i have documented how to do that in my book, Complementary Fat Grafting. Have your surgeon buy it and read it. I am sorry you are experiencing this problem.
best,

Hi Dr. Lam,

Thank you for your response. I am new to this forum. I am in California but would be willing to fly out and see you if you think you can help me. Do you have experience with transfered fat REMOVAL near the upper cheeck bones? I would not feel comfortable asking my doctor to read your book and do the procedure without him having any experience.

Also, I had an upper and lower bleph 2 years ago (I'm 36yrs old) and I was left with hollow lids. I learned from your posts that a bleph without fat transfer is usually not a good idea. In fact, the fat transfered to my cheeck area made the hollowness more visible. Another doctor said my skin is too thin for fat to be placed in the lower lid so he used restyline. The restyline helped but now I have a dimple on the outer side of my eye. My mother has a lot of extra fat under her eyes so I hope that it's genetics and that I might gain fat with age even though most people lose fat as they age.

Should I send you a picture privately so that you can let me know if there's hope:). Thank you!
