Fat is the Answer! Is it time for a touch up?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Fat is the Answer! Is it time for a touch up?

Dear Dr. Lam,
I must compliment you on a fabulous website. I came across it by accident on youtube, and have seen every inch. Your work is so state of the art. I am an editorial Makeup Artist in NY.
This morning you may have saved me from a terrible mistake. I was about to make a thermage appoinment to correct my lax jawline/neck area, when I read your blog. I have heard before of these depressions left by the RF treaments, and seeing it on your site woke me up!!! Is this common in the nech area too since there is not alot of fat there?
I have had fat grafting 3 yrs ago. She did a life changing job on my face. I am now 47 and look so great for my age. I also have great genetics. The one concern I have had was a "fat blurp" under my left eye. My right side came out perfect, but the left developed a pocket so to speak, on the orbital bone ridge, that protudes out. I returned to her 2x to try to correct this and no avail. I am from the philosophy of less is more and was afraid to poke around too much, and with a healthy attitude, have coped by saying it bothers me more than anyone else, and have lived with it. I see it everyday for years now, and in photos and under overhead lights etc. I thought it may resolve itself but not yet. Now at the same time I feel I can use a bit of rejuvination. My fat grafts were conservative and I appreciated that, but I am seeing a few of my "transitions" are getting gappy, and upper eye area slouchy.. LOL. My jawline can use some attention, and also my hands and browline, these areas have not needed it til now. These are places I did not address last time and now it may be time to balance again.
I will send you any type of photo you may need and would not mind flying in out.
Oh yea, can we give my lips the collegen boost???
Thanks you so much for all you do, and with elegance and style!

thank you. you have seen nothing yet with this site. even though it is 3500 pages, it is about to undergo a major "face lift" so to speak that will be much easier for my out of town visitors (and in town as well). i can't wait to show you in a couple of weeks.

as far as the fat lump is concerned, have you tried to cut it out? fortunately, i have never encountered one that i had to remove but that may be your best solution. unfortunately, you would need stitches and the incision may be visible for a few months possibly.

as far as the fat grafting is concerned, yes i do nice work with FT. i would look forward to seeing some photos when you are ready. you can send attachments as a private message (PM) to me.
best,
sml
