This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)
Do you have any opinion on this procedure? Became familiar with it when reading website of Dr. F.; Facial Plastic surgeon; who was one of the first to use this technique. It is suppose to help fill in some of the tear trough depression and somewhat address NLFs? Also read that there can be some long term risks....i.e., pulling down on lower eyelid. Thanks so much.
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO. If I am not clear about that, here is another answer NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO.
I am sure many surgeons out there get consistently excellent results cutting on the lower eyelid. However, there is always a chance and a very real one that the eyelid will be tucked just a little too high and make this Asian look or drop just a little too low to make the person look like a hound dog. These problems are near impossible to fix and must be sent out to an oculoplastic surgeon.
I had a lady who was brought in by a friend so that I could convince her not to have her lower eyelids done again by a local PS. She did not listen to me and now she is most likely having to go to an eye plastic surgeon to have very difficult to correct palate grafting to fix the problem. Bottom line: DON'T CUT ON THE LOWER EYELID. IT IS DANGEROUS. Even if you are a good surgeon 8 out of 10 times (which I don't believe you can be that consistent even if you are good), two patients with two strikes with a lifetime of problems is a zero success rate for those two patients and also for any conscientious surgeon.
okay, for a video summary of my thoughts, go to the 16th video in the video log on creating safe strategies for the lower eyelid. i can't explain it any better in that video. best, sml p.s.: i have removed the surgeon's name from your blog to protect the innocent.
