hair restoration

Postby kco » Sat Jul 19, 2008 8:55 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,
My boyfriend is balding at the crown. He had hair transplant years ago and it really didn't take.
He is an entertainer and feels he is more attactive with hair. He wear fake hair or a hat to cover the baldness.
What is the cost for hair restoration. Do you transplant hair, ie: take strips of hair from the scalp? or folicle by folicle?

Do you do the hair restoration?

Thanks, K

No problem. I also have a forum there too. However, I will briefly answer the crown transplant question.
1. Anyone younger than his late 30s should be careful in having a crown transplant performed because of ongoing recession in that area. Once a transplant is performed though you are obligated to continue work on it.
2. Watch my video on the hairtx site on my video log section that talks about the billboard effect of the crown region and how to present realistic outcomes for the crown region. it also talks about how and when to perform crown restoration.
3. please read the section on medical management for hair loss. it is so important that anyone undergoing crown transplantation to consider being on finasteride (Propecia) and/or minoxidil (Rogaine).
4. Look at my crown transplant videos, photos, and before and afters to get you to understand the level of quality that must be exercised when performing hair restoration of the crown.
best,
sml
