Need a second opinion regarding PSR3 complications.Thanks

Postby ellajune » Sun Nov 25, 2007 5:32 pm

Dr. Lam Thank you for taking the time to answer my question's:

I am 4 weeks post PSR3 performed by a derm. in the LA area. I have a few questions regarding my outcome and would appreciate your second opinion.

I am still slightly red and it flares up when I try to wear make-up and or wash my face it seems to be fading daily. However my skin is still too sensitive for make up especially my eye's. I am extremley red around my eye's and my DR. say's it is broken cappilaries and want's to treat the under eye area with the V beam laser. Do you think it's to soon to use another laser on that delicate eye area? The redness is alarming and I can't really cover it up with make up since it irritates my eye's still. I can see the tiny capilaries under my eyes and he is very confident the V beam will take care of them I'm just so scarde! And I never expected this to happen to my eye's with Portrait. He also said he has never had anyone else have this problem.

One other question how long does it take for the skin to return to a not so sensitive state after this procedure it sure was not 10 day's lke I was told.
I can send you a pic if you would like.I will add that I am impressed with the rest of my skin aside from the pinkness that I know will subside in time.
Thanks for litsening
Ella

These are very hard questions to answer via a forum. I do this as a service to my public but do not want to provide advice for something that I cannot see. If you send me photos, I will have to charge you a consultation fee but I don't think that would be wise as I think it may still be too early to make a call on all of this, and photographs really do not do justice to a problem that should be seen in person.

I think his advice on using a V-beam SHOULD be okay to help with the redness. I have done this for any red area of the face like an incision but not per se for plasma resurfacing. You should really trust your physician or obtain a local second opinion from a dermatologist.

By my stating you could have this or that problem or that you need to have this or that medicine to treat this condition would be inappropriate. I am sorry that I cannot be more explicit in a general forum of this kind for your condition.

Best,
SML
