To look younger

Postby desky888 » Thu Jul 17, 2008 4:04 am

Hi Dr Lam,i'm from singapore and i'm very interested to find out more about your services especially where fillers are concerned.I've recently gone through 2 sessions of Radio Frequency to tighten my facial skin and also to get rid of my pigmentation, namely freckles.
However,I've realised i needed some fillers to plump up my face to look younger.Since i've jus have my laser treatment done last week, how soon can i use fillers on my face? and after injecting fillers, how soon can i do my laser treatment?

I'm interested in coming to you for some fillers treatment. Is there a hotel near to your clinic where i can stay during my visit?

Hope to hear from u soon.

Regards,

hi,
you can have fillers pretty much immediately. the best hotel right now is hyatt place. they are listed in my flying in section under "contact". there is an email, etc. of how to contact them. i am working on getting my fly in section greatly expanded in the coming months.
best,

Thank you for your prompt reply :D Some doctors over here recommended the latest Revanesse, saying that it'l last longer.

Q1)Do you think this new product for fillers is good?

Q2)to be realistic, can a filler makes you look 20 years younger?

Q3)i've quite a short chin,not so prominent.can a filler helps enhance a chin,do you recommend it?

Q4)how about the temple area, heard that it could be filled up but what kind of effect will it enhance?

hope to hear from you soon :P

Q1)Do you think this new product for fillers is good?
IT SHOULD BE FINE GIVEN THAT IT IS JUST ANOTHER HA PRODUCT BUT IT IS NOT APPROVED FOR USE IN THE U.S. SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO GET THIS DONE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.

Q2)to be realistic, can a filler makes you look 20 years younger?
ACTUALLY, I CAN MAKE SOMEONE OFTENTIMES 10 TO 20 YEARS YOUNGER BUT THAT IS BY USING AT LEAST 4 TO 5 SYRINGES AND BASICALLY SIMULATE A FAT TRANSFER.

Q3)i've quite a short chin,not so prominent.can a filler helps enhance a chin,do you recommend it?
YES, IF IT IS NOT TOO SHORT. IF IT IS TRULY SHORT AND YOU PUT A LOT OF FILLERS THERE IT WILL BE TOO EXPENSIVE PLUS IT MAY JUST LOOK LIKE A FAT CHIN.

Q4)how about the temple area, heard that it could be filled up but what kind of effect will it enhance?
I FILL THAT ALL THE TIME WITH FAT BUT NOT WITH FILLERS. NOT SMOOTH ENOUGH.

hope to hear from you soon

Hello Dr Lam :D ,Thanks for taking time frm your bz schedule to help me with my queries.
However,i've learnt frm one of your reply that using filler to 'pad up a chin does constitute a young look.

Q)can you tell me where will u inject on the chin to achieve this?

I'm actually keen on doing the Co2 laser treatment also, but heard that it's the most potent and more painful treatment but results will be very dramatic.
Q)Will this kind of laser treatment make us visibly younger? or u recommend laser to tighten skin plus filler thereafter to look younger?

Q)To help a patient look younger,Which part of the face(in priority sequence)u'll choose to inject fillers into?

cheers :D

Q)can you tell me where will u inject on the chin to achieve this?
YES, FOR A BONY CHIN, I PUT MOST OF THE MATERIAL INTO THE ANTERIOR CHIN. FOR A HEAVY FACE OR A FACE WITH A BIG JOWL, I PUT IT IN FRONT OF THE JOWL TO SOFTEN THE JOWL. OBVIOUSLY, I COULD DO 2 SYRINGES IN THE CHIN BUT THAT WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE FOR A SMALL AREA LIKE THAT. SPREADING 1 SYRINGE INTO BOTH AREAS WILL GIVE A MORE MODEST RESULT. THAT IS WHY FAT TRANSFER IS SO MUCH BETTER. SINCE IT IS FREE I CAN USE 10 TO 12 SYRINGES TO ACCOMPLISH EVERYTHING THAT I WANT TO DO IN THIS AREA.
I'm actually keen on doing the Co2 laser treatment also, but heard that it's the most potent and more painful treatment but results will be very dramatic.
Q)Will this kind of laser treatment make us visibly younger? or u recommend laser to tighten skin plus filler thereafter to look younger?
WOW, CO2 IS A BIT ROUGH AND REALLY REALLY OLD TECHNOLOGY. BESIDES THE 3 MONTHS OF REDNESS, THERE IS A HIGH LIKELIHOOD OF PROGRESSIVE SKIN COLOR LOSS WHERE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO OUTSIDE ANYMORE. AND A DERMARCATION LINE THAT WILL START TO SHOW UP ON THE JAWLINE AND GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER 5 YEARS. I WOULD ONLY USE CO2 IN SOMEONE WITH WRINKLES SO PROFOUND THAT NOTHING ELSE WILL TOUCH THEM (THAT MEANS SHARP-AY LEATHER). THE TRADE OFF OF CO2 IS WAY TOO HIGH IN MY OPINION.
Q)To help a patient look younger,Which part of the face(in priority sequence)u'll choose to inject fillers into?
IT ALL DEPENDS. THAT IS WHERE THE ARTISTRY COMES INTO PLAY. OFTENTIMES THE CHEEK CAN BE THE MOST IMPORTANT. WATCH MY VIDEO LOG ON THE CHEEKS: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY.

you are asian. i should have figured that out because you live in singapore. PLEASE DO NOT HAVE CO2. It is not great in whites but terrible in Asians. you have some early signs of aging around the eyes, cheeks and jawline, i.e., some volume loss. not terrible but i can shave a decade off. if you come halfway around the world to have me do something for you, i would suggest doing the fat transfer. it does not make sense for you to fly halfway around the globe just to do temporary fillers. for your skin, as far as i can see, i don't think you need to do any invasive lasers. probably either just a bleaching cream or a light fotofacial (a series of them), seriously.

p.s.: thanks for the kind remarks. i have no fillers!

Desky- my theory as to why Dr. Lam looks so young is he loves what he does! I checked out his staff photos and the entire staff is really radiant and beautiful. It must be because they are passionate about helping others and they find so much joy in their work! In my book, that is one of the most important things in life....loving what you do! :)

my staff did have a little help. check out the staff makeovers section. also, a few of my staff members won't allow me to post their before and after photos on the site but you can see them when you get to my office because they are locked in a private vault. also, yes, we have fun every day!!!!!!

Indeed! Dr Lam's staff look so much better after makeover. :)
Realised they still hav their nasalabial folds, though not as obvious as before.

Q)Did u 'touch only on their cheeks and other area of the face, except inject directly on the nasa folds?

Q)will one look much better, younger if fillers bein inject directly on the nasa folds as final step?

For an asian person of age 40,in order to look younger:
Q)do u add fillers to cheeks, hollow of eyes, buccal area and also use botox to 'lift the eyebrow n eye corner?
Or u'd just use fillers which maybe sufficient to shave years off the face?

Thanks in advance Dr Lam :D

Only Dianne's NLF did I do. Everyone else I did not. It is an optical illusion. To understand more my feelings on the NLF watch my video "How about those smiles lines?" under my video logs section.

Q)will one look much better, younger if fillers bein inject directly on the nasa folds as final step?
Usually, it is a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. However, I'll do it if you need it or you beg me for it.

For an asian person of age 40,in order to look younger:

Usually, fat grafting if you can afford the cost and a week to 10 day downtime. or fillers and botox as a temporary solution. botox would do 2 things: 1 stave off wrinkles. however, many asians at 40 don't need it yet. or to lift the brows a bit until you can afford the proper thing which is fat transfer into the brow. if you can't understand why lifting with botox and filling with fat are somewhat 2 different routes to the same end, watch my video log on "brows, balloons, and shorelines". in short, the brow at 40 does not need to be lifted no matter what you try to show me by lifting it with your fingers (come on, i know you do that) but filled. lifting it will give you the illusion of filling until you can do the FT.

Jus watched the videos on brows and cheeks.Wow...it's so informative and i've realised what you meant by volume loss then merely liftin up brows.

i've only had botox done on eyebrows, crow feet area.but now i'm wondering if fillers are better than botox that works for crow feet area too?

From the videos,u said that plumping in the cheeks are the main focus in looking better, didn't know there are two places u inject the fillers, namely anterior cheek and higher cheek area(near temple).Correct me if i'm wrong Dr?

But how do u judge if the cheeks are over plumped and ended up looking too big? if a patient do not have high cheek bone,do u still do the anterior cheeks? cos i think it'll look big(esp when u smile or laugh) if one don't have high cheek bones to start with.

Do keep us updated with the latest and we'll be your faithful client one day :D

Cheers :P

the outer cheek resides over the cheek bone not the temple. everything that i do is about balance and achieving that by studying the face so only guidelines can be offered in this forum, nothing more. when i see your face, i'll get a better read. it is really hard to give really broad strokes on these answers! hope that i okay.
