Question

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Question

Postby profwho » Sun Jul 13, 2008 10:34 am

I had fat transfer about 8 weeks ago to face (by you, thank you so much again ... just took some new pix yesterday and cannot believe the change!)

Anyway, to the question: I occasionally get my nose lasered by my local dermatologist for small capillaries that break and make my nose look like a road map (e.g., take left of the nostril to get to Amarillo). There's a technical name for it (starts with "t" and is a long one). Anyway, will having the laser treatment to zap these be a problem?

While I'm here, I sometimes get them on my cheeks too. Will lasering them there be an issue with the previous fat transfer?

Thanks! profwho

ktp and pdl lasers

Postby dr. lam » Sun Jul 13, 2008 10:44 am

HI!!!
thanks again for the kind testimonial. it really meant a lot to me. absolutely no problem with the lasering. the word you are searching for is telangiectasia. say that 3 times fast. the best lasers to manage that condition are the KTP 532 nm and the Pulsed Dye Laser 589. Fotofacials/Photofacials are pretty good but they are not as targeted to the problem. I just read an article that said that the KTP is the best (which is the laser that I own. I also have a fotofacial) in a respectable journal, Dermatologic Surgery. HOWEVER, THE ARTICLE WAS SPONSORED BY LASERSCOPE. So, honestly, I don't believe it. So, in short, a "vascular" laser mentioned above would be the best to manage your condition.
best,
