facial depression

Postby havingfaith » Thu Jul 10, 2008 6:42 pm

Dr. Lam,
Had a couple questions about scar revision. I noticed you use the Geometric Broken Line for revision followed by dermabrasion but what about if the area has a slight depression will it be elevated with the revision or will it leave a depressed scar?
I noticed you use the surgiwire is that effective for tethered down scars.
Are you familiar with using your own blood to inject into scars and stimulate your own regeneration of collagen? Lastly, have you heard of Acell?

Thanks

hi,
1. a depression in many cases will not be fixed with a GBLR. you need to have that area filled in with silicone micro droplets for a permanent correction.
2. i have absolutely stopped using the surgiwire. it is a WMD. it does not work and causes problems.
3. using your own blood can help wounds heal but it really does not do that much with a scar per se. i do not offer that service.
4. i have never head of acell. looking at their website, i generally do not like using animal products if i absolutely can avoid it. it is not a moral issue. i just don't like using things that might trigger an allergic response or might have prions or other contaminants if possible. acell is made from a pig bladder, as far as i can tell.
best,
sml
