fat transfer and lipo and dimples.

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

fat transfer and lipo and dimples.

Postby charlie » Fri Jul 04, 2008 12:43 am

if one only has fat transfer and lipo for facial enhancement, does it avoid having surgery 'proper'?
the results on your pics look amazing without going under the knife.

in this case is the down time much less ,and the precedures less invasive.?

can you put a time scale on how long one needs to stay in Dallas. :?:
thankyou.

fat transfer is the way to go!

interestingly, i can get results that are 100000 x better than someone with a knife. simply put, a knife can make things worse in most cases. i just can't get most of my surgical colleagues to understand my work because surgeons want to lift the crap out of everything. the only thing that i lift today is the neck and jawline. i no longer perform browlifts. i rarely perform lower eyelids (don't worry most don't need it. they simply think they do, i.e., i use fat grafting to correct the problem and rarely need to take out fat, which i do without a skin incision anyway) and occasionally upper eyelids (again don't worry. most people even do not understand it until they sit down with me and we review old photos with them. with your prior browlift and blepharoplasty performed, you definitely do not need another one. in fact, i need to reverse your previous surgery.)

in answer to your questions:
1. the recovery is less in terms of discomfort and bruising but you could possibly look as distorted and swollen the first week or sometimes even more (depending on how good a surgeon is with a standard face and browlift). the reason for just as much if not more swelling is that i am adding volume and you are having swelling on top of that. in other words, more plus more looks like a lot. traditional surgery is highly subtractive then you add swelling so it may not look as bad at times. when the swelling goes down you look over cut and skeletonized though. that being said, since this procedure is a small one when it comes to time, the shorter operative time and less invasive nature leads to less swelling than some of the traditional operative methods.
2. in answer to it being less invasive, absolutely. since there are no knives, sutures, bandages, and even needles (except just the entry sites for the cannula), it is very much less invasive. simply put, there is no cutting. because of that, many people fly out after a day or so. with a facelift done at the same time, you need to be here a week.

WOW.....i looked at your before and after pics and the Asian girls eyes look amazing,so much more 'wide open'and thats what i really like.

the guy with the dimple looks really cool...........i want one. :D

and the girl who had botox to lift and define the jawline looks lovely.

i am well impressed and had no idea so much could be achieved with fat and botox.!
i guess the next question is how long does botox precedures last.?

botox of the jawline is a unique animal. it lasts about 6 to 12 months. for upper face wrinkles botox lasts about 3 to 4 months (4 months really only in women or in men who have been doing it very consistently for a year or more but even then i can't make that promise).

i just got back from las vegas 2 weeks ago and at the faculty dinner all these doctors were amazed at these uses for botox as a surgeon from Singapore lectured on them. I was amazed actually at the ignorance of these Western surgeons regarding these techniques, but I am not surprised too much since I learned them during my 5 month preceptorship in Asia and which I recorded in my book, Cosmetic Surgery of the Asian Face. I actually have people flying in from across the U.S. to have botox of the jawline since almost every doc out there has not done it let alone even heard about it.
