facelift #2

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

facelift #2

Hi Dr. Lam,

I have been reading your blogs, and low and behold there is a blog on the "dip". I was waiting until August for you to get your book into the editor.....

I looked at all the photos in your evolution of fat grafting. I really can't see a major dip in any of those patients. I was expecting something much more evident. Are these the worst case senario? If not do you have photos of the worst case?

And, at 2 years everyone in your evolution series look better than the first year! and the fat is holding! Very pleased to see these results.

Thanks, K

yeah, the dip is harder to see in these lower resolution files. sorry. not everyone has a noticeable dip. i have some more severe dips but they are not consented to go on the web and their results are stunning. sorry! i don't get a lot of dips but i do have a few. the goal is to undersell you so you don't get disappointed between 2 to 6 months. also, if you want to wait until my book is out, i am confused? i am already booked until almost end of August even for a consult by the way. Very soon I shall be booked out 3 to 4 months when Fall hits because that is my busy season.

Hi Dr. Lam,

I didn't mean to confuse you. I was joking with you that I was waiting for you to finish the manuscript of your second fat grafting book before you got the time to post photos of the "DIP". But, you surprised us by posting this right away...!

I read a thank you post by a patient who had you place perlane to correct some inperfections. I think she had 4 syringes. What is the cost for this? Do you feel this may be a good hold over option?
Thanks , K

sorry, i didn't catch the humor. i am usually a fun guy so i am surprised i missed the joke! :D  yes, perlane restylane combos are great for temporary fills and can simulate fat transfer. the cost is $2000 for a 4 syringe fill. here are the people who decide to have fillers instead of fat:
1. can't afford the fat
2. can't afford 7 to 10 days off from work for fat
3. can't understand why i want to do fat in certain facial areas and wants a preview.
4. need to have it immediately with no recovery because his/her daughter is getting married 10 days from now, reunion in 2 weeks, etc.

here are the people who decide to do fat:
1. obviously they can afford the time and the money and believe me and my design work.
2. they want the best results that are permanent and improve over time with hopefully positive skin rejuvenation.
hope that helps your decision making process.

Dr. Lam,

Thank you!! Very though. It does seem like a good alternative and affordable. How long does it last?

Thanks, K

anywhere between 6 months to a year but could be shorter or longer. sometimes the eyes fade a bit faster than the cheeks and chin since i use restylane under the eyes and perlane (which is thicker) for the cheeks and chin. perlane is simply not great under the eyes. i have done 2 to 3 patients and that was more than enough.
best,
