I'm Flying from Califorina; I have a few questions

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

I'm Flying from Califorina; I have a few questions

Postby monteroman » Wed Jul 02, 2008 12:23 pm

Hi Dr Lam,
I setup an appointment for Silicone Injections with you in August. I have some rolling scars on my cheeks. I'll be happy to send you some pictures if needed; however, I agreed to have the consultation and first treatment on the same day since I'm flying in.

Question 1: I'm 26 years old. Will Silicone Injections pose a problem down the road when I'm 40+ yrs old? (Lumpiness, etc.) Can lumpiness be corrected?

Question 2: Are there limitations to treatments after Silicone injections? (e.g. Laser, Retin-A, TCAs.)

Question 3: I'm aware that 100% improvement is totally unrealistic and I'm not really worried about the blemishes (I don't dream of a porcelain face). The real concern I have is the shadows under harsh lighting. My rolling scars seem to be exaggerated in weird lighting; have you seen Silicone Injections improve rolling scars dramatically when it comes to their appearance under harsh lighting?

By reading dozens of your answers in this forum, I'm glad to see that you don't throw people "sales-pitch" answers, so I appreciate your honesty and forthright approach. This information will really help me understand what I'm getting myself into. :)

Thanks!
Monteroman

thank you! i don't sell. i educate. in fact, i turned away half of my consults today who requested service.

1: i truly do not believe so. i use little at a time and blend. if it becomes a problem we should be able to put more to smooth it but hopefully we shall never have to cross that bridge.
2: not really. but i would not do laser/tca for 2 weeks and retin-a you can start the next day.
3: yes, i truly think silicone will help under harsh lights. i said HELP NOT ELIMINATE. again remember my endgame is a happy patient not someone who feels lied to. that is bad and it is not my M.O.
best,
sml
