Nose Job

Postby Jolie » Tue Jul 01, 2008 7:23 am

Hi Dr. Lam,

I am an Asian- American, so you understand most Asian concern about their noses. My nose is ok, it's not a bad nose, but it's not high enough, so it makes my face round than it should be. My purpose is to have it done next year. Obviously, I just want to have it implant, no complicate procedure because I've never had any surgery in my entire life. I don't want to get in any complicate procedure because I don't like to go under the knife much. As I watched on YouTube, I saw how people went through their surgeries, it's really terrify me. There are two most concerns that I have now:

1. If I only have my nose implant, how long would it takes to be done?
2. How much would it costs for the entire procedure? (Note: I am saving now because I want to pay one time cash, so I want to know the exact price because I don't want to be short in budget.)

Best Regard,

Jolie

asian rhinoplasty why not silicone but gore-tex cartilage

Postby dr. lam » Tue Jul 01, 2008 9:27 pm

okay, let me start by saying i have absolutely stopped the 10 minute rhinoplasty in the office that i did when i first started. the easy "one-piece" silicone implant can be done in the office without sedation in literally 10 minutes. however, you need not apply to me for this procedure because i have stopped doing them. although they look good for a few weeks, they start to shrink wrap over time and the nose can look quite fake not to mention the problems i had with infection and slippage down the tip. if your only option is to do this, don't have this done with me. i don't believe in it.

that being said, i perform all rhinoplasties including asian ones under general anesthesia. it is much safer for me to do it that way and the procedure is quite short about 1.5 hours. i use gore-tex for the bridge and cartilage for the tip, so-called "2-piece augmentation", which i truly believe is so much more natural appearing. please watch my virtual consultation on asian rhinoplasty to understand this better. the cost is about 7800 including everything. prices do change a bit, but i don't anticipate much increase in the near future.

hope that does not scare you too much.
best,
sml
