rosacea and fat graft

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

rosacea and fat graft

Postby question » Sun Jun 15, 2008 5:11 am

Dr Lam

I have rosacea, ie blood vessels close to the surface of the skin. will fat grafting traumatise these vessels further? would i get more blood vessels due to the process of grafting and the prolonged swelling? could the grafting actually improve my rosacea?

thankyou

That is a great question. Honestly, the answer is I don't know. I have done a lot of people with rosacea and I really haven't gotten strong commentary back either way. I can see that both scenarios are possibilities. Most likely, that it could worsen early on and then improve down the road. However, that would be more conjecture than fact. In either case, rosacea is a lifelong issue that needs ongoing treatments to maintain. if you look at it that way, you won't be so frightened to proceed with FT.
