Isolaz... does it work for large pores?

Postby Mysteryagain » Sat Jun 14, 2008 11:19 pm

Dr, what do you think of this product one sees magazines and beauty articles are talking about?: Isolaz. It is sort of a vacuum + light therapy... I do not understand how it works and I wonder if it really can help with pores as it is claimed or if it is totally useless.
What do you think of it?

From their website

How Isolazâ„¢ Deep Pore Laser Therapy Works
Isolaz is the world’s only aesthetic technology that combines vacuum with a painless laser:

* Vacuum: Helps loosen and extract dirt, blackheads and excess oil from deep within your pores.
* Painless Laser: Helps destroy acne causing bacteria, uneven skin tone, sun damaged skin, facial redness and veins as well as unwanted hair.

This incredible therapy, called Photopneumaticsâ„¢ (Photo = Light, Pneumatics = vacuum), is a proprietary technology available only with Isolazâ„¢ treatments.

Isolazâ„¢ is quick, easy and painless. In fact, many people have their treatments done during lunch without any downtime. Additionally, patients have found their skin feels tighter and has a healthy radiant glow following Isolaz therapy. Also, Isolazâ„¢ therapy is effective on all skin types.

Isolazâ„¢ Purifies Your Pores
The Isolazâ„¢ vacuum applies gentle pressure on your pores while the painless laser helps destroy the acne causing bacteria. This helps soften and remove blackheads, dead cells and other debris from deep in your pores resulting in radiant, clear skin that is purified from the inside out.

i have really no clinical or scientific knowledge about the product. my honest opinion is that it is most likely okay for blackheads and acne but for pores? i really think it will do nothing. it just does not make sense that a vacuum and light laser will shut them down. the only thing that i have seen that seems to work on pores are botox and plasma. the botox relaxes the smooth muscle of the skin and the pores can look better. first, not in everyone. second, i only do that in areas where we are treating wrinkles anyway. third, don't expect it. plasma skin resurfacing is not a perfect technology. then again, what is? out of all the lasers i have used, it is the best for skin texture. 4 caveats though. first, not everyone gets that result. second, it takes 8 months to see the result. third, i would not do a high setting just for pores. it really is for wrinkles and texture. fourth, it is only okay for deep wrinkles. i have also done CROSS TCA for select deep pores like on the nose or chicken pox scars not for large areas. that is unsafe.
