TCA CROSS with lower strenghts?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

TCA CROSS with lower strenghts?

Postby Mysteryagain » Wed Jun 11, 2008 9:50 am

Dear Doctor, my Dermatologist was very impressed with your video regarding acne scarring and she got more informed regarding the CROSS method.

As you know, I won't be in your country until some time, but in the meantime I would like to start to treat some of my skin care issues.

Anyway, my Dermatologist would feel more comfortable using lower strenght TCA for CROSS at least during the first round/s. But she is not an English speaker and would like to know (and me too) if regular applications of 20 or 30% TCA with the CROSS method (but as you see, not even at 50%) can produce some collagen formation and, over time, after being repeated, improve scars. She would like to know what YOUR opinion and experience is, as you obviously are an expert in these matters.

Or, does one *have* to go up to 50 and 100% TCA strenght?

Lower strenghts used regularly wouldn't have the same effect over time?

Hugs again from South America!

hi,
20 to 30% will do NOTHING for scars. the only study out of korea showed that 60 some percent helped but nothing like 100%. 100% is very very very dangerous. make sure she is properly trained before starting.
