Going on Vacation

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Going on Vacation

Postby formula1 » Sun Jun 08, 2008 2:10 am

Hi Dr. Lam

I had fat grafting to my face four months ago, specifically my upper cheeks and orbital rims. Every year i usually go to the Sinai in Egypt to go scuba diving for vacation. I want to do a trip next month for one week. There are two things that I am uncertain about. first, is it ok for me to go scuba diving now after this amount of elapsed time? and second, I'm not sure if you are aware of the Hookah or Nargillah pipes that they smoke in egyptian culture, but its essentially a waterpipe that they used to smoke flavoured tobacco, and of course its very popular with tourists and is available at all the restaurants/hotels in the sinai. I'm not a smoker in my day to day life but when i go to sinai i like to have a hookah with friends at the end of every evening. So i want to go for one week next month, but would you advise that its ok to go scuba diving and indulge in hookah for one week, or are these a threat to the fat grafting?

thanks for the advice:)

if i did the procedure, i can comment. if you had it done by someone else i really shouldn't. you need to ask your surgeon that question. it is not appropriate for me to take care of or give advice to the after care of another surgeon's patient.

in that case, you should be fine. i really am not worried 5 months out. don't get too crazy though.
