whats wrong with being windswept.......for a while.?

Postby charlie » Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:39 pm

while i read of looking 'natural' ,i have noticed with many folks, that initially they look great, but it does,nt last. :(
usually after a few weeks or months ,everything drops a fair bit,so i personally would prefer to look 'done'. rather than' refreshed'.

is there any reason for not looking 'done'.?

a few things are very important here:
1. i do truly pull the tissues as hard as i can so that they are slightly overstretched before they relax. and, yes, they will relax. some people look slightly tucked and bunched for 1 to 2 weeks.
2. don't think that people who are overpulled will relax entirely over time. they can look that way for years. now, why do i say that? because a lot of my correction is performed on individuals who are overpulled 10 to 20 years ago and they still look bad. if you are lucky and you had way too aggressive a procedure, you may look normal in 5 to 6 years. if you are willing to give up the prime time of your life to be scorned for the chance to look normal (without the promise) then that is the course of action you should proceed with. just don't plan on coming to see me. that is not my philosophy.
3. why do people look pulled? if i pull so very hard, am i not at a risk for overpulling someone then? No. For several reasons. First, I don't perform browlifts or midfacelifts anymore. that overpulled cateyed kenny rogers look/jocelyn wildenstein look is dreadful. a composite lift that distorts the outer edge of the eye makes someone not look Asian but absolutely bizarre. So that eliminates 2/3 of the problem right there. The only thing I lift is the neck. With the neck, all my pull vectors are straight vertical to match the fall of gravity so even though i lift as hard as i can i don't pull backward. Next, I don't release all of the lip ligaments (only the mandibular ligament, which is important to minimize relapse) so that the lip does not look distorted, which is problematic too.
4. as much as i don't overpull someone, i don't overfill them with fat. won't the fat just go down and you should just really overstuff them? NO. is it worth looking potentially overstuffed (see my recent blog) for the rest of your life that is unfixable practically speaking because of the chance that you don't want to add a little more fat in the rare chance you need a touch up?

Anyway, the bottom line with this is that it is NEVER worth risking an unnatural result by overdoing something simply for the chance of the initial horrific result to settle down. it just might not.

thankyou,
i guess what i mean is ,that some folks do appear to only have been pulled back, instead of vertically, and their results are only short lived.
while a facelift used to be deemed to last around 10 plus years,it now seems that in many cases people are being redone after only 2 or 3 years, hence my word refreshed rather than done.

saying all this,i did read recently that Raquel Welch claims her continued good looks are due to having constantly had 'work'.done over the years.
she does indeed look natural and not at all over stretched.
i guess its getting the balance right. :)

part of that balance is volume. without fat in the chin and prejowl complex, my facelifts wouldn't look as good. some people try to overpull to compensate for volume loss. also, some necks just don't lift well because of bad anatomy no matter what.
