LAM FACIAL PLASTICS

Dear Dr. Lam,

I have been very anxious about this scar forming on my jawline/chin. It began as I started picking at a mole, first with my fingers because it was irritating and then with tweezers. I did not think about what I was doing and now I deeply regret it. It has been about two months and I've been to multiple dermatologists. They suggested waiting a year until doing anything, so in the mean time, I am using Mederma and Vitamin E oil. Is there anything else you can suggest during this healing time? The mole is still there and now there is a circle (pink in color) around the mole where the scar has formed. It is slowly fading in color and I am afraid of the final result. Also, I wanted to know what kind of scar revisions are available for this kind of a scar?

don't worry, it should fade. my personal belief is that mederma and vitamin E do practically nothing. read my faqs section on scars (or any section for that matter). right now, leave it alone. if it thickens, then 5-FU can bring it down. prolonged redness can be lasered with KTP or PDL. however, the best course of action is patience and leave it alone.
