Dr. Lam,

I just have to ask this question because I have to know. Are the fillers such as juvederm, radiesse, perlane, etc. worth the money that we pay. Essentially, does it cost allergan that much to produce/create the HA particles that are naturally in our skin. I know there is an injection fee with that, but I am talking about the product, not the injection fee. If it does, it is understandable that I pay that amount (sordive like the concept of a diamond being rare, so it is costly).

Most of these are temporary products.

that is a hard one. obviously, there are a lot of fees that are buried into a product including:
1. R & D. for example Allergan puts something like 50% back into R and D and also into quality control of Botox.
2. marketing, e.g., Allergan does incredible DTC (direct to consumer) ads. that costs a fortune.

But, yes, what they charge is most likely much much much more expensive than the cost of the product itself. That is the nature of any product in the medical field. The only thing more costly is getting fake product from outside of the country and either dying from it or having lifelong problems from it. That is costly!!!
best,
