fat grafting

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

fat grafting

Dr. Lam,

on your page you mentioned fat grafting for rhinoplasty. although it will not give definition and height like silicone or goretex, is it a good material to consider for someone with adequate nasal bridge height?

any possiblities of infection. and will it 'disappear' or shrink in size, (with weight loss too). and will it not stay in a particular area?

i do not perform fat grafting for the nose as a standalone procedure. there is only moderate hold with it. however, if someone is getting full facial work, i throw it in for free if they need it. infection is always a possibility with anything but i have never seen it in hundreds of cases in the face. it won't migrate but you can lose volume with weight changes. bottom line: i don't do it as a standalone and do not offer any guarantees. i have had success with it but i don't want you to pay for something that i can't deliver.
