silicone removal

Postby askdr » Tue Jun 03, 2008 4:05 pm

Dr. Lam,

I had asian rhino several years ago with silicone (no tip work).
My skin is thinning and I can see a dent in the implant.
if i get the implantremoved does it risk damaging nerve or blood vessels?

my bridge prior to surgery wasn't low, so the silicone just helped give it a little more height. so when the silicone gets removed is it possible to just leave the nose as is without putting a new implant?

Thank u

yes, we can remove the implant without putting another one in. there is always a risk that the silicone has eroded into your cartilage and bone. however, i think it is a fair risk considering the problems you are having. if you read one of the patient submitted testimonials, you can see how easy i can get silicone out in the office with discomfort. if you have small dents at the end, some silicone liquid can be used to fix them or at least improve the situation.
best,
sml
