thin skin and fat graft

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

thin skin and fat graft

Postby belinda » Mon May 19, 2008 12:00 pm

hi dr lam

i have heard that placing fat under thin skin can cause lumpiness.

my skin has been thinned by laser damage. i want fat grafting on my cheeks to help fix the damage and loss of volume but am paranoid that because the skin is delecate and thin this might be a problem. it is so thin and delecate now that just brushing it causes it to go bright red.

what are your thoughts? could lumping be a problem?

i am very good at this and have never seen lumpy bumpiness no matter how thin the skin is. it is very hard to do in inexperienced hands. i am sure most docs will scare the pants off you, but this is my specialty. i literally wrote the book on it.
best,
