Hi Dr. Lam I was just curious what you think of dermarolling and needling procedures (to try before silicone or tca cross).

Yeah, I have tried it without much success. I have all the equipment to do a PCIT (percutaneous collagen induction treatment) but haven't seen too much a result so far. I think it is a great easy way to try which has minimum downtime and minimum risk. I think it is worth a shot so long as you know it will take repeated efforts (how many? don't know) and possibly with less than ideal gains.

Ok great. I am going to try it on my own and then come to you for tca cross and silicone microdroplet treatments (if you can of course). I just want to see what i can improve on my own first.

Also, I am Pakistani but light/medium in skin tone. Doctors have said I am a "3" and I do not hyperpigment too easily and to control pigmentation I use lustra sometimes. Would TCA cross be OK for my icepick scarring? Can I send you pictures of my scarring as well as I live in California.

if you are pakistani, you are almost a definite 4. this is a true problem in the way that doctors rate skin types. most east asians are a 4 no matter how light their skin is, i.e., they respond to ablative skin treatments like a 4 unless you have more Middle Eastern skin than Indian subcontinent skin (again despite your skin color). I can and do TCAs on 3s and 4s. I don't ever do 5s and 6s. So most Indians do not get treated. I would have to truly make certain you could do the CROSS or would even need it. You can send me a photo via PM.
