Botox for square jaw

Postby kashmeister » Mon Nov 12, 2007 4:42 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

I was reading your comments about botox in the neck and you mentioned how it could potentially cause sagging. Well this got me thinking about botox for the jaw....I believe the idea is to cause muscle atrophy and as a result, the jaw line has a softer, less bulky or square appearce (or at least what I think it supposed to do). Anyhow, are there anyside negative side effects of using botox when trying to soften the jawline (like lower face sagging).

And if not, are there any other positive side effects, other than softening of the jaw.

Thanks!

botox jaw

no real negatives per se except rare but possible temporary fatigue during chewing. i have rarely seen this in a couple of patients. it disappears typically after a week. In the past before I measured out my injections I saw an uneven result. Really have not seen that anymore now with a highly precisely measured injection.

o/w no sagging and no other benefits.
