Restylane SubQ

Postby jhou » Sun Nov 11, 2007 5:03 pm

Dr. Lam,

I have read about Restylane SubQ, a filler currently not yet approved in the U.S. but being used in Europe and Canada. It is purported to last longer than standard Restylane and be better for providing cheek volume. Do you have any opinion on SubQ yet? Any guess on when it may be approved and do you plan on using it?

Thanks!

restylane, perlane, restylane subq

Postby dr. lam » Sun Nov 11, 2007 5:10 pm

It should actually be a great alternative to Perlane given the particle size and the depth of my injection. Since I use cannulas to inject, it should be equally easy for me to inject this product as Restylane and Perlane and using cannulas will ensure that I remain entirely at the right depth.

Honestly, I can't wait until this product comes out but I have to abide by FDA regulations for use. I know some physicians were getting Perlane in the country before it was approved in the U.S. I won't do that.

I just sent an email to my representative asking when it would be available. When I get his response, I shall post it here.

Thanks for the query,
SML

restylane subq, reloxin, etc.

Okay, from my Medicis rep, Restylane SubQ, should be released in June 2008 at about the time that Reloxin (their Botox alternative) is also released.
best,

Dr. Lam,

Thanks for the follow up. Do you think SubQ really lasts significantly longer than other HA fillers currently available? I have heard 12-15 months - is that a realistic expectation in your opinion?

Your guess is as good as mine. We'll see when it arrives.
