a more radical approach.....

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

a more radical approach.....

Postby charlie » Wed Apr 30, 2008 5:08 am

last year i had a facelift in Costa Rica with a doctor i thought delivered the best.? :?:
i had no wrinkles and not much loose skin. i specifically wanted a tightjawline/lower face..........i was advised to also get my eyes done (much against my better judgement.)
for around 3 months i looked pretty good,( honeymoon period.!)apart from my eyes.
8 months on i look not one iota different ,but my eyes are not good ,and my vision is still impaired.!
i was cut with a vertical line, from middle of the upper eye to the eyebrow.!this of course is totally unaceptable.! anyone knows that it should have been a hoizontal line.?
i had no incisions in the hairline, all the work is behind my ears......and so my face has only been drawn across, giving me a square face...........i hate it,and obviosly i have no lift.!
as i had barely any bruising ,i question if i had anything but a cutanious precedure.?
dispite the cost, travel etc,i really need a doctor who will give me something radical,as the face drops quite quickly anyway.

i really am very disapointed and upset.

thankyou.

obviously, i would have to see you in person to make that call. oftentimes, i can "reverse" some of the facial effects by "unpulling" it with fat transfer to refill and recontour overpulled and overlifted areas. as far as the neck if it is very bad, you might need another facelift. obviously, only a consultation with me or with another PS can help you. As you know, however, I am one of the few docs out there that gets "volume" balancing, as you liked it during the "honeymoon" swelling period. If that is the case, then fat transfer may do a lot to cover previous sins.

many thanks Dr Lam.........the only thing though with fat transfer,it does,nt seem to last very long.
i actually had fat transfer in my hands, twice, and within 3 months it was completely gone.!
i guess if one lives near you,its easy to get a top-up,but living in England its really not feasable.!
i will get some photo,s done to send you,to give you an idea of what i mean.

that is all technique dependent. my fat holds in one session in over 90% of people. 10% i need to do one single touch up. i have only had to do a three timer once. my fat holds very very well. my mom's face and hands are pristine at close to 10 months. fat grafting is ENTIRELY TECHNIQUE DEPENDENT. BIG TIME. hands do require a bit of overfilling. if you don't they won't be impressive over time. faces should NOT be overfilled.
best,
