nose pimple

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Postby jeeyjj » Tue Apr 29, 2008 7:42 pm

hello Dr.Lam. i'm currently 16 and i had a big red pimple grown on my nose a few month ago... the pimple went down for around 3 weeks ago but theres this flat and dark kinda thing left over. its like a pimple but its not red. and it wasn't as big as the one before. i just wanted to ask you if you have any suggestions on how to get rid of it ? or will it be gone eventually? thank you

most likely this is either hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) that is related to popping it and should go away over the next few months. you can use a prescription lightening product if that is the case but it should fade by itself. It could also be a deep bruise or hematoma that should resolve over time too. However, in any case, I am not a dermatologist and would have a derm answer your question.
best,
