Upper Bleph revision

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Upper Bleph revision

Postby helen » Tue Apr 29, 2008 5:56 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

I remember a post on eyelid surgery that you answered on how some doctors perform it but neglect the possibility of the patient looking older....

I've had upper blephs done around 6-7 years ago and that's exactly what I've noticed throughout the years.... and it's really bothering me. My bf and I are around the same age but some people ask if he's my son!!! Mind you, I'm only 25....(trust me, it's a very depressing thing) I could never figure out why I look so old for my age (and I'm asian!) but finally, I realized that it was an upper bleph done poorly. What really surprises me is that I did so much research on the *best* plastic surgeon, who is beverly hills' reknowned plastic surgeon. I thought I would be in the best hands but I think I got jipped =0(

What I would like to know is if you would recommend an upper bleph revision to correct that problem....actually, not recommend but whether it's possible to have that redone and if it is safe .... and/or etc....what do you think?? Do you do bleph revisions?

Thanks!
helen

what kind of bleph? double eyelid? traditional skin removal? suture technique? what is the problem? too much skin removed? too high a crease? too much fat removed? asymmetry? i just need clarification.

whoa.... i had no idea it was that specific... i got double eyelid surgery .. i don't know if there was too much skin removed ... he removed fat and then there were sutures ....you can totally see the cutting/slicing....which doesn't look so natural.... it just makes me too very old .... too old for my age ...

i think helen was having a different type of procedure, which is to open up an Asian eyelid, and you are talking, Charlie, about rejuvenation. I do perform double eyelids (creating a crease) but not traditional eyelid surgery for rejuvenation unless i combine it with fat for exactly the reason you are bringing up.
