This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)
I have chronic dark circles under my eyes since i was about 23. What causes this, it has not gotten better but worse. I get lots of sleep and I drink lots of water and I eat healthy. So confused.
i have answered this question in bits and pieces elsewhere. in summary, the possibilities of your situation are as follows:
1. you have chronic allergies that are leading to "allergic shiners".
2. low thyroid condition can cause a similar problem.
3. stress and lack of sleep can worsen things.
4. you were simply born that way.
5. you were born that way with deep veins visible.
6. you had a lot of sun during your teenage years and have a bit of early aging going on.
7. you are looking too closely at the mirror.
obviously, i don't know your age and don't know what is going on and you should have a professional consultation to have a better understanding if you are serious.

Thanks for the reply. I have very thin skin under my eyes as I always have just like my mom. I don't have a lot of fat or collegen in my eye area so it is essentially flat to the bone. If I grab the skin under my eye, I can grasp a big chunk of it, it is so thin. Is there anything that can be done for me to correct this, it doesn't look good. Appreciate your advice so much.
Typically, I can put restylane or fat there, temporary or permanent, respectively. In most cases, no matter how thin the skin is I can do so safely because I use only cannulas (soft blunt instruments) instead of needles in a very deep plane (over bone). It is smooth and painless, either product. I would have to see you in person to make absolutely certain that you are a candidate.

How much is fat grafting about on average? Is that where they take fat out of areas of the body and put where you want it. Are the results permanente? Is that rec. for under eye area and NL fold area?
It's about 9k. It can be placed easily and safely under the eyes. I do put it in the NLF but the results are not impressive. You need fillers to manage that area. However, as you probably see in my forum responses, I truly believe that the NLF is way overrated in 90% of people or greater. Yes, that is how I do it. I take it from the hips, thighs, belly to be transferred to hollow facial areas.
