Perlane

Postby kashmeister » Sat Nov 10, 2007 9:10 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

I know you can use perlane to sculpt the cheeks, but I was wondering if you can put Perlane in the buccal (lower area of face) to help fill out the hollow look. Ultimately, I am plan on having you do fat transfer for me, but I will have to wait about a year because I currently have sculptra.

Also, do IR/radiofrequency tighetening devices have any effect on the longeticty of Perlane or fat?? It seems the heat might melt it....can is that true?

Thanks!

Kate

perlane

Postby dr. lam » Sat Nov 10, 2007 10:27 pm

Hi,
I am one of the largest injectors of Perlane in the U.S., and I do a huge percentage of my Perlane in the buccal area. I have devised a very smooth way of injecting the buccal area using a cannula I invented. Very smooth results, no bruising.

I can't answer you regarding whether IPLs would melt fat/Perlane. I had one patient who believed that occurred at a Med-Spa, but in general I would say that IPLs are safe if done by the right hands.

Btw, "Summertan" asked you a question under "Fat Grafting in the Lower Face" and wanted your response.

Best,

Thanks Dr. Lam.

That is so exciting!!! I am so glad we have a doctored as talented as you---now just wished you lived in Chicago! :)

BTW...I answered Summertan's questions and recommended she see you for fat or perlane for lower cheek hollows. I got pretty good results with my sculptra, but it took me 4 months, one vial a month to get it. From what I hear, most patients don't respond as well as me (that is what the ctor who did my injection told me).

Just wish I had known about you earlier, I would have never gotten the sculptra!

See you soon!

Dr Lam, is it possible to fill that area smoothly with long needle syringes? I think just putting a blob there, like they do for cheeks is not going to work. Maybe a cross-hatching technique where they inject in lines with retrograde technique and the lines form a rectangular grid that covers the area?

There are many ways to skin a cat. My technique is not "My way or the highway". There are a lot of qualified injectors out there and cross-hatching with retrograde injection is a good way in the right hands.
