I'll go second

I hope some people decide to have some fun with this and write a little about what they love in life. Again, as I stated in my blog, the reason that I have added this section that is totally unrelated to plastic surgery is several-fold. First, I am very passionate about plastic surgery and what my staff and I do for people every day and I want to hear about what motivates or inspires you. Second, I believe that sharing positive stories about your life will create a network of people who may like to share their thoughts as well. Third, I believe in creating positive energy so that people can feel the positive energy from others. Sometimes, we need a little reminder of why we are here and I believe this section may do that.

There is something called Heart Math from California that I was introduced to by Emina, my hair transplant coordinator, and then explained in greater detail over the weekend when I was in San Antonio for a business retreat. Essentially what this is about is hearts radiate a electromagnetic wave that is measurable up to 15.2 feet away, i.e., you can actually read one's EKG from that distance without any wired connections. It has also been shown that individuals who are undergoing a heart transplant can have two hearts (their original and the one to be transplanted) sitting next to each other outside the body and they will actually synchronize beats. That is fascinating to me. Now, obviously, at a very great distance, we may not be able to "feel" each other but I think the more positive messages that we can deliver the better.

Sometimes some individuals seek plastic surgery because they have a negative self image or a negative world view. In most cases, people are just wanting to look a little better and thereby feel a little better about themselves, like buying a new tie for me or something like that. For those, who may be dwelling on the negative, I am hoping as they make the choice for plastic surgery that they can read a little a bit about interesting positive and uplifting stories to help them feel a little better. I hope that people will enjoy writing a one line or two line little story or something more elaborate about their life (anonymously) so that they could touch many people out there. I noticed for example one or two forum entries have 12 and 13 thousand views! That's amazing to me.

Anyway, my true passion is making people feel better about themselves and look better too. I work as much on psychologically supporting and helping someone as I am designing a face that I would be proud of. For anyone who has had a consultation with me, he or she knows that I have a certain philosophical perspective and I do not bend very much. In short, I fashion myself an artist who is very proud of his craft. I get excited at meetings when I can learn even the smallest pearl to make a patient experience better or a result better. For example, my $5000 idea contest generated a lot of entries but none better than Jeff's from Chicago who has completely reinvented the section on "flying in". My staff is working vigorously to blow your mind with this new section. I look forward to unveiling it in a month or so. Anyway, it is hard for me to express how much passion I have for my work but I simply do. I hope some of you will take 5 or 10 minutes to share your story with us.
best,
sml

It's interesting how you describe your attitude toward plastic surgery and esthetic procedures. Way before reading this post of yours, I thought to myself that rather than a doctor or specialist in that area, you were an artist. It is clear to me that you have this outlook on people where you see the "whole" and try to make this person as beautiful as possible... NOT to get the person to pay you but to really make the world a nicer place by making people feel better.

Personally, one of my passions is precisely finding people all over the world who are like you and many of those who come here (willing to share their knowledge and wisdom and to reinforce a positive outlook on thigns) ... Finding nice people all around the world makes it look less harsh and cruel, which is what we tend to hear and learn about.

Another passion of mine, one that makesm e read this blog, for example, is not as much becoming beautiful as it is a deep interest in doing my best to make the best of the body/face God gave me. I think that, as long as it does not become an addictive thing and that our safety goes first, trying to beautify ourselves is a sign of self-love and self-respect. As long as that outer appearance is not improved at the expense of our inner beauty!
I guess what thrills me about learning of esthetic procedures is the ingrained notion that my body must reflect how I feel about the world, how much I care for my self and for others, how healthy my lifestyle is, etc.

Another big passion of mine are languages (learning languages ->Dr Lam if you need help with some translations you just tell me -of cousre I mean for free!) and animals, with a very soft spot for birds, although even insects are cute to me. Stopping cruelty and raising awareness on the importance of respecting and protecting when possible ALL living beings is a major interest and focus of my life.

I also like to interact with people who can teach me things that make me grow spiritually, regardless of their specific religion. I think we all have a zillion things to learn from people of all races, backgrounds and beliefs. And finding what makes us all the same and yet so unique is something I find uplifting and motivating (motivating to in turn try to make the best of our life for our sake and for others).

I also like all things linked to art, whether in movies, sculptures, paintings or in less obvious things (like working on making a face look nicer! :))

I am happy I have found this site with these nice people who seem to care about their appearance or help others with it without becoming superficial and shallow. Reaching a balance between nurturing our body, mind and spirit is what I thrive to reach.

But I have many many other passions... life has too many "things" for us to appreciate, analyze, learn about to sum things up. I guess learning new things to then see the world with more perspective sums up my interests.

Hugs to everyone here and this is one of the times where I really regret living so faraway from where you all are. I really would like to see how the Dr's Office is like!

I bet your Spanish is really good and that you will do just fine at the Telemundo interview! Anyway, if you happen to have a doubt regarding how to say something in Spanish, you can email me. Spanish is my native language.
Interesting that I also speak French! :)
I read/understand (but do not speak) Italian.
And Portuguese, which is not a huge merit considering that I live in a small country beside Brazil, so it's easy to learn Portuguese from Brazil just by watching the tv networks from there :)
