Very sorry about the loss, Dr. Lam. Losing a friend, a contemporary, has a particular resonance. Paying respect, we can take the time to make sure we're using this life on earth in a meaningful way.
This morning I am going to the dogs. Literally. I help out at the local Humane Society by exercising, playing with and loving on the dogs each week. I always know I may not see one of these animals again, as our numbers are always high and euthanization is in place. I'm compelled by knowing that if THIS is the last day for dog X, at least someone called him pretty, sweet dog, rubbed his tum and threw a ball for him.
Small things we choose to do add up! Certainly we've all appreciated the well-placed word or a smile, even from someone we don't know.
