Hi Dr. Lam,

just a question about fat transfer. I'm really considering it for my upper face and especially the hollows under my eyes, but during the spring time i get severe (really severe) allergies which leave me sneezing,sniffing and generally quite swollen under the eye area for most of the period. I know you have said allergies could be the underlying cause of dark circles, but my question isn't about that, I just wanna know if all the trauma from constantly sneezing and sniffing and all the swelling going on can damage the fat that has been grafted. It would be a waste for me to have this procedure if I would lose the fat come spring time due to this trauma. Thanks for your help!

no, that should not happen. but if you are prone to swelling during that time, you may swell more due to the allergies. you may want to either be under good control with your meds (nasal steroid sprays, antihistamines) or wait until the season passes.
