eye asymmetry

Postby andrewlm » Fri Apr 04, 2008 4:44 pm

Dear Dr. Lam,

My left eye appears to larger then the right one. It also protrudes out further than the right one. I notice it more in photos of myself then when I look in the mirror. Would this condition make it more difficult for me to have blepharoplasty?

As you probably know, i am opposed to traditional blepharoplasty in general because it changes someone's look in an unfavorable way. Especially, if you have a larger eye that is hanging out a bit, traditional blepharoplasty will make it worse. I truly believe fat grafting will help blend the area much better than a blepharoplasty. Also, as you know, symmetry is an elusive goal. Read my blog in the archives on symmetry. Bottom line, I can't tell you with more certainty until I see your situation personally.
best,
sml
