otoplasty antihelical only

Postby standupman » Thu Mar 27, 2008 9:02 am

Dr. Lam,
Is it possible to undergo an otoplasty in which you would increase the fold in my antihelical fold only (i.e, no conchal bowl setback)? I am wanting to have something done, but I don't want it to be too drastic. Thanks

80% of my otoplasty is performed to create an antihelical fold only. i do not often need to perform a conchal setback in many cases. It is simply unnecessary unless you have a cup deformity. I would have to look at your ear to make that judgement. I don't cut the concha anyway but just pass a small suture to the mastoid. It is not a big deal either way. What we should do is what is appropriate for you.
best,
