vitality report, male testosterone levels

Postby pocohall » Sat Mar 22, 2008 4:13 pm

Dr. Lam,

I am a 32 year old patient of yours and excited after reading your blog on your vitality 25 page report.

A few questions for you.

Briefly, what does a 25 page report tell a patient? Perhaps you could give us some of the highlights and costs to have a report?

You said that your testosterone needed a boost. A total testosterone level on a lab report's range is wide (~ 250-900) Can you explain at what level a male should be treated for a low testosterone level?

Yes, I have seen a few md's concerning this as my father requires testosterone supplementation. Since 2001 I have been tracking my levels. For instance, in 2001 my free testosterone level was 19.9 and 2 years ago was 13.3 (total= 448). I just had another level drawn and should get the results soon.

Lastly, how soon did you begin to feel a difference after starting T3 and hormone bio-identical supplentation?

Thanks!

hi,
I just started all of this a few days ago so I haven't felt too much of the effects just yet. To tell you the truth, I can't recall the details of the report because it was so long but it checks everything in your body like biotin, vitamin d, arsenic, mercury, c reactive protein, natural killer cells, homocysteine, etc. Basically, it looks at your total cardiac risk profile, stroke risk, hormones, trace elements, vitamin deficiencies, immunity, etc. I have some fascinating tales to tell you of other patients treated too. Marcy, who works with me and is 35 years old, was diagnosed with wheat allergy and has been on a wheat free diet for 3 years. Upstairs, they found that she had no wheat allergy but had a low testosterone, estrogen, and thyroid levels. She is now on pregnenolone as a precursor to testosterone and estrogen and also taking thyroid replacement. Another patient of mine was told she was pre-menopausal by her OB-GYN at 36 and was found upstairs to have normal estrogen levels but low thyroid. I had another gentleman who was spending $2500 every month from a very reputable and famous health clinic here in Dallas and after testing was found that half of his supplements were actually harmful to him.

Anyway, they are fantastic. You can get all of your tests done in a few hours and then be taken care of out of town thereafter. I believe the cost for all the labs is around $1500 and the initial visit is $500. Supplements and infusions cost extra. I think infusions run around $175 each. The medications obviously would need to be compounded based on your results and would cost extra. They can help you file for insurance. In general, many insurance plans can cover the expenses by as much as 80% but that depends on your insurance. I should not answer any questions further about vitality and anti-aging treatments or diagnoses because I am NOT an anti-aging physician but a surgeon. I defer all questions to my center. Their phone number is 972-312-8881. Their general website is antiagingandvitality.com.
Best,
SML
