facial fat reduction

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

facial fat reduction

Postby Zhamm » Thu Mar 20, 2008 6:38 am

Dear Dr. Lam
I am writing from Italy.
The reason I am writing is because I have seen some of your videos at Youtube and got very interested in this fat grafting method that you perform.
I am in my 40's and yes I have had a facial fat reduction. I've always had some light marks under my eyes that lately they turned to bags and also got deep folds along the nasolabial lines.
I wonder if fat grafting would be the right thing go through as in matter of fact I
don't really feel to go through a blepharoplasty or anything so invasive.
Sometime ago I have met a doctor who talked to me about lipostructure and this is why I am writing you. I really need your kind and professional opinion about it.
Obviously I am ready to send you some pics in order for you to look at them and reply to me whenever you can.

Looking for your earlier reply

Best regards

Yes, in my opinion fat grafting is the single most important thing that I do to restore a face toward youth and vitality, especially in men who can look rather strange after a browlift or eyelid surgery. Even after fat bag removal, there can still be a "bag" because the hollowness has not been entirely managed. Please watch my vlog on balloons, shorelines, and bags. Obviously, I would have to review your photos, which you can send to me via a private message with a link, for general ideas. A personal consultation would be important if you want to proceed.

As you know, fat transfer is a highly artistic and technical procedure that can lead to excellent results that are both safe and permanent in the right hands. Also remember that when I do men, I tend to structure the face differently than with women to create a more masculine result . In other words, I strive toward a more rugged look that is more rested and youthful by stressing the outer cheek, and structuring the jawline but still blending all the areas that are deficient. The nasolabial folds are NOT improved with fat transfer. That tends to be disappointing. However, I think the folds are way over emphasized in most people. Alternatives like silicone droplets, etc. can be used to correct folds and lines.

Best,
SML
