Jawline, cheek implants and smaller chin??

Postby LiLy Pierre » Wed Mar 12, 2008 11:19 am

Hi Dr. Lam,
I found your site on youtube about cheek implants....which I need. My jawline is also skinny, narrow. I am wondering if the chin implants can be put on the edge of the lower jaw bone, near the ear lobe or a little lower to give the look of a fuller jaw?
My problem is too extreme, just enough to make me self concious when wearing my hair up or back and this is my favorite way to wear my hair.

Also, can part of the chin be sawed off....the bone? Just a few fractions of an inch? My chin is too long.

I asked a plactic surgeon here in Sarasota but he wanted to break my jawbone. My friends and I all feel that my problem is hardly extreme or severe enough for this. Even a little fat implanted there would make the improvemensts necessary.

Great site, thanx, LiLy :P

You know my feelings about implants versus fat. Only if you have a tiny chin would I consider an implant. Also, implants out on the outer jawline are something that I don't do. I prefer to sculpt that area with fat. As far as bone breaking, I don't do that. That would be done by an OMFS (oral maxillofacial surgeon). I would have to see you to determine whether that would or would not be the best course of action. In general, that is a much bigger procedure that should only be technically recommended by a board-certified and experienced OMFS.
best,
