Fat grafting and darker ethnic skin

Postby yowurl011 » Fri Mar 07, 2008 12:58 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

I came across your site on youtube and for the first time aging and youthful restoration via fat grafting makes more sense than going under the knife.. THX!

I'm pretty sure that I'm interested in facial fat grafting. How well will FG work in African American or darker skin? My understanding is that darker skin is thicker.

I'm over 40 no sagging but I work Extra Long hours and think I look very tired. My eyes look some what deep all around the sides and boney (older). I also have a few lines at the top (bridge) of my nose.

Last thing...as I age and my hormones flucuate. I feel as if I look less soft and a bit harsher at times. Can this procedure help me look more femine/soft?

Thanks for your professional passion and help!

ABSOLUTELY! Fat grafting is particularly helpful for African-Americans for two reasons. First, almost all aging in A-A's are due to fat loss since gravity and wrinkles really are more of an issue in whites and fairer skin patients. Second, I don't have to make any incisions on A-A's which is great from a pigment and scarring point of view. I can show you more before and afters for A-A's if you are in my office. Unfortunately, I have limitations on the net. Oh, yes, did you notice that ALL my female patients look softer and more feminine when I am done? Look forward to take care of you.
best,
sml
