Botox or Lipo?

Postby miss08 » Tue Jan 29, 2008 9:10 am

Dr Lam,

I noticed black people can have the curviest bodies and very little fat on their face with their skin being firm, tight and toned and sharp jawline. On the other hand a skinny asian person could have loose, unfirm heavy bottom on their face giving that 'mushy' loose skin look with no defined jawline/chin/lower cheek

My face isn't necessarily fat, it is however a lot bigger than it should be compared to my skinny body and the doctor i went to told me I had very little fat and most of it was actually muscle or looseness of skin..

How do you achieve that tight, firm, toned look on your face, that sharp jawline? I remember u said botox is not permanent.. but 'could' be in the jaw if the muscles were developed from chewing too much etc... what about the chin/upper neck, lower cheek etc? If u keep doing it every 6 months could it become permanent? And have u had any patients who've had it permanent? and last but not least.. the more u do it the longer it last or is it always a 6 month interval?

thanks

These are difficult questions that are perhaps unanswerable. I know that you understand that all facial shapes and features are uniquely different and oftentimes cannot be made to meet ideal standards. I don't really have an answer that I can provide about achieving a tight, toned look to the face. Almost anything I offer you could be an oversell and unrealistic. I would have to meet you to see if I can help with fat grafting, rhinoplasty, chin implant, botox, etc. to achieve better harmony but beyond that I don't know what else to say.

As far as Botox for the jawline and its permanence, I have not really studied my patients in-depth even though I have been doing this for many years now. I think selling this as permanent is an overstatement. If any of my Botox jaw users can make any insightful comments here, I would certainly welcome them. I don't want to offer you meaningless conjecture and false promises.
Best,
