volume build up from Radiesse

Postby summertan » Thu Nov 01, 2007 9:30 pm

Dr. Lam,

as you know I had 1 syringe of Radiesse split between my anterior cheeks (below the malar septum line and above the nasolabial line). I had no bruising but some swelling for 3 days when my face looked 'fat'. Now, one week after the injection, the swelling is gone and I can't locate the filler at all by palpation. It's like nothing was ever injected. Theoretically, the body should start producing collagen to fill in the space between the filler's particles.

Should I expect volume build up again from the current deflated state and how long does it take in your experience?

radiesse and male facial sculpting

Yes, collagen builds up between the particles but at almost the same rate as the gel carrier begins to disappear. Therefore, honestly, expect that you will not have anything more than what you currently have. I think collagen building over time is way overstated for every type of filler. If you really see almost no change, I could do fat grafting (if you have enough donor) in 6 months.
best,
sml
