Depressing indented scars

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Depressing indented scars

Postby gotchocolate » Fri Feb 08, 2013 12:23 am

Hi Dr. Lam,

Firstly I want to say thank you for having such a board, and investing so much time into truly caring for your patients.

I took accutane almost 2 years ago, and now have some scars that I didn't have before. I particularly have scars by my chin that really bother me. have already had CO2+recell, but this has not helped my more indented scar, since I guess in order to lift you must do TCA cross, or a filler. I have also needled this scar twice with no results. I went to a cosmetic derm and he said that this scar does not qualify for subcision, and did not think it was a rolling scar.

The scar by my chin really bothers me, and I was wondering what you would recommend as treatment, as well as what kind of scar you think it is.

Thank you so much.

photos are always hard for me to read the details but i would say that treating it with injectable micro silicone will help the depression but not the texture 100%. i don't have a good answer to provide you with something that would get you a near perfect result.
