Unsightly mole on chin... best course of removal, advice?

Postby kevinhadrice » Mon Dec 24, 2012 1:24 am

Hi, I'm a 17 year old guy with a large mole on his chin and a flat mole on the right cheek.

Recently (1 year ago?) I've gone to a cosmetic doctor and used a (weak in my opinion) laser for removal. As you can see from the pictures it was only half effective. What used to be black spots on my face now are lesser colors. For the large one, I bet it probably is a bit deep... should I cut it out? I'm seeing a specialist in June 2013. Would cutting be the best course since it's a bump? Will it leave a scar? Personally I wouldn't mind a pink scar vs a black ugly bump...

Also the one's on the side, the laser was not that powerful and also the doctor missed I guess, as there are 2 spots there coming back again. Should I use the 'scratch/poke gently with needle' and apply iodine method to get rid of it? Or should I just leave it....

I seem to grow a lot of moles on my body... not too many but not few either.
Sorry for the links... I was going to imbed them but they're too large (8mp)

personally, i would cut it out, at least for the one on your chin but you will have a scar that will need to be diligently managed to make sure that it heals well. i use laser, 5fu and possible dermabrasion to manage it but that is something you need to talk with your doctor about. your right cheek one you might consider laser again to manage the color since it is flat and not raised, and it would be great to avoid another scar on the face.
