Cheek/chin/jaw? Looking for that "balance"

Postby beantowngirl » Sat Dec 22, 2012 7:37 pm

Hi Dr. Lam!

I found that you specialize in Asian features and love that you support the idea that "more is less". I, too, am not a fan of big and plastic cheeks. I'm looking into which features need a little boost. Is it that my chin is a little weak, or my jaw isn't defined? Would a chin implant accentuate my jaw line and would I be a good candidate? As for my cheeks, I thought it seemed to sit too medial on my face (someone also once told me that it looks like I can't smile all the way). Could this be improved with fillers? I definitely don't think it's not "full" enough since I seem to have a puffy effect. Also, You may not be able to see it that well, but my cheek fat on the R side doesn't appear completely smooth when I smile creating a slight dimpled line in the middle of my cheek. Many questions here, but I would love to hear your opinion on where to start. Thanks in advance!

hi,
personally, i think you look fine. if you wanted, you could have a small to medium sized chin implant that can accentuate your profile but i would not go any bigger than that. your cheeks look fine too but i can sculpt them a little bit with filler if you like to accentuate the feminine cheek structure. bottom line, i think you look good but i can tweak things a little here and there to improve things if you are interested.
best,

Hi Dr. Lam,

Thanks for your response. I also realized I have a long space between my nose and upper lip, especially when I close my lips as in the picture. Would the chin implant also help me push up my bottom lip thus decreasing the length of that space? I've been looking into lip lifts as well, but see that you do not offer this... I saw your blog against lip lifts in many individuals but would you see me as a good candidate?

Many thanks for your input!!

1. i would not do a lip lift in your case for the reasons enumerated in the blog. i think your lip will look too fat and you will show too much gum when you smile. in addition, you will have a scar that is less hide-able in youthful flawless skin women especially Asian.
2. the chin implant will not change the distance to the lip or the shape of it. sorry.
