Wart/Mole (not sure) on Nose

Postby Emad » Tue Nov 27, 2012 11:52 am

Dear Dr.Lam,
I've been reading this forum from quite sometime now. I really appreciate your answers.

I have a wart/mole (Im not sure what it is really) on my nose. In school (7,8 years ago) I thought it might be a blood clot or something and tried to puncture and peel it off with a needle/blade. I really wasn't aware of the consequences. It has now raised and got bigger with time.

I live in Libya and there are not much dermatologist and skin experts here.

Its getting really embarrassing for me and I try to avoid people because of it.

Please tell me what are my options. I really want this to vanish.
I'm a complete dummy. (sorry for my bad English).

Best Wishes.

first obviously make sure that this is benign which most likely it is since it has been there so long but check with a dermatologist. unfortunately, the only way to really remove that area and make it look good is to use a bilobed flap (you can google that). that will take cuts across the nose but i think it will probably be worth it for you if you go that direction but you need an expert to do it for you.

Thank you Dr. for your valuable advice and time.
I will for sure consult a dermatologist.

Can you please tell me what exactly this is?
And is there any other option than "bilobed"?

I'm not aware of much medical terms. I'm just a little confused because here doctors lack good skills and often go for the easy way to deal with patients.

Thanks once again. :)

the other option is a sliding glabellar flap. just google it. no, you cannot reasonably close it or skin graft it so the only real option that would look good is a flap type procedure.
