is there anyway to remove fat graft?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

is there anyway to remove fat graft?

Postby texascrazy » Tue Nov 27, 2012 11:50 am

Hi Dr. Lam,

I have my surgery fat graft transferred from thigh to cheek in Aug 1st 2012, and now the pockets of fat still left there and make me look like a chipmunk, I really regret about doing the surgery. This is the first time I have done the surgery and my surgeon said unless I do the second time, the result is unlikely to be permanent. Can you please tell me 1. is it true that even the first surgery will leave at least 30% of fat on my face and cannot be totally dissipated (the f/g) 2. what is the most effective and safe way to remove the fat graft on cheek - I tried steroid before, it removed part of the lump but can't help the overall situation.

Thanks a lot for your help. Much grateful if you can answer.

i personally believe one fat transfer in my hands is permanent. not necessarily 100% take but permanent nevertheless. as far as it going away partly it can but with variability. if you did it in august there is still a decent chance part of it will go down further. so patience is probably your best course of action at this point. i personally think getting fat out is very hard to do. there is no easy way to do it. at this point just wait it out over this year. if not, sometimes what fixes a chipmunk cheek is to blend the areas around it so that everything looks more blended. i know that is hard to believe but at a year if you are still have problems, send me a photo and i can evaluate the likelihood of success with my method.
best,
s.
