Bit through lip

Postby chaber » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:15 pm

Hi, I'm only 15 years old but I need answers to the many questions that I have, which a lot of people seem not to be able to answer.

I know it's really soon to be worrying about anything yet, but I bit through my lower lip last Sunday while playing on my varsity soccer team. In result, I also got a bad concussion. My doctor said I bit right through it, and needed 30 stitches to repair the damage.

Most of my stitches have fallen out by now, but I think he layered the stitches because I still see a few that seem be from inside my lip.

What I'm worried about is the scar. Around the scar the skin seems to be harder than the rest of my lip, is that normal? Also, will it be like that forever, or is it just temporary?

Secondly, the area where I bit through my lip seems to be really hard unlike the rest of my lip. What is that? Will it go away?

Third, everywhere else in my lip I have feeling, other than the top of my lower left lip. I have no sensation there at all. Is that also normal?

Sorry to bother you with all my questions, I'm just worried and have to know.

I added attachments of my lip below so you could see.

Thank you so much,
Carly

typically the hardness and the loss of sensation should resolve. however, if the hardness does not then that could be improved with 5FU injections to help soften the scar tissue. worst case scenario it could be cut out if the 5FU injections don't work well enough.
