Raised mole removal

Postby kakaii » Tue Sep 25, 2012 5:42 pm

Hello Dr. Lam

I'm thinking about getting the mole on top of my nose bridge removed. What procedure would you recommend and what kind of results should I expect? The mole is raised about 2mm off skin and 4mm in diameter with hair growing on it. I've attached 2 pictures from different angles. Thanks in advance.

an elliptical skin excision full thickness and closure would be the best option for you because the mole is raised and has corresponding depth to it.

I went to a plastic surgeon thinking that my mole orginally was cancerous. My derm. sent me to one since it was on my face. They sent a small piece of the mole to the lab to see if it was skin cancer. It turned out not to be. As far as stitches, plastic surgeons (good ones) know how to close wounds to make them look their best. I don't think derm. do as nice a job. I would ask all of these questions first before I had anything done. If your not happy with responses, look for someone your more comfortable with. Take care and let us know how it goes.

i also think sometimes plastic surgeons may look at moles as small, inconsequential entities and not spend a lot of time making them as perfect as possible. i agree find someone in whom you feel truly cares and is dedicated to excellence even in small things like moles. in my opinion moles take even more care because they are oftentimes sitting right in the middle of the face and cannot be as well hidden as say a facelift incision near the ear and under the hair.
